Opening Day

Here's a moment in time: it's a photo of last year's fancy flags run up the mast. It could serve as an accurate post for today, as well. But whenever you're using a photo from last year to document this year, there are going to be certain discrepancies.

Namely, the weather. Today is very heavy with a white cloudy marine layer; last year it was traditionally bright and sunny. Today I'm going to try to squeeze into last year's outfit. Yeah, and that's probably not going to work. Let's just blame it on that heavy marine layer.

Still playing around

Yes. More holiday lights, more holiday fun, more holiday insanity. We took a walk in the mist and I took some photos and now I display them here, for you.

I feel guilty guilty guilty.

If I'm working, I'm not writing. But then, this blog isn't really complete yet and so I should be working on the back end of it instead of actually writing here on the front end. The sooner I learn this blog biz, the sooner I can apply it to my real websites and make millions upon millions of dollars.

Big Plans

We've been living on a boat for 4 years and 2 months now. It is very, very comfy. It rocks. If I feel cold, I can turn on the little heater and I'm toasty comfy warm in seconds. The whole cabin is warm in a minute, tops. Did I mention that it rocks?

Very gentle, deep sighing sway when I move from side to side. If we're both on the same side and one of us crosses over, it answers your footsteps and rises up and down. Of course, we're at a dock. If we were out at sea, I'd be too sick to write.

It's good to be back

I've now spent two days that I can ill afford in a rather blissful state of learning a new program -- this one. We don't yet have a perfect page, but it's close enough. I was going to do it all by hand, like the old days, but I've decided that I don't want to look at all that archiving madness ever again.

So, I've swallowed my pride and worse, I paid for this TypePad thing two full years ago, and I haven't had the time or the stomach to learn how to use it. Plus, I was sort of mad about the fact that I over-stepped the trial period by one lousy day and they wouldn't let me out of the year's contract. Bastids.

And then, I was reminded of my wasted year when I got a notice in my email and sure enough, I'd missed it again. Another $150 dollars down the big black internet hole, of which I have my own personal portal right here on my computer screen.

Life is good. And I have to write or I will burst. Simple as that.

Another test post

Trying a second post, this time with the image inserted before the writing. This time the image is a largish thumbnail, and if you click on it, it will pop up into a full size photo. I think I will do this for all the family photos, which I'm soon going to spew, er, place upon the web.
